Colors and Flowers

As we’ve already discussed, colors and flowers can have an important influence on your wedding invitations. It could be anything from having the font in a deep plum, to having a photograph of your chosen flowers on all your stationery.
But your choice will be effected by what’s available and in season so always talk to your florist first.

White
Simple and elegant with shades ranging from pure white, to creams with a splash of silver.
Flowers: roses, ranunculus, lily of the valley, snowdrops, orchids, arum lilies
Reception idea: use feathers and crystals in your table decorations
Tip: To prevent a pure white color scheme appearing too stark, add hints of cream and green to table decorations and reception stationery, or silver to add glamour and sparkle.

Pastel
Pretty and delicate, subtle shades in pastel hues for dreamy spring weddings.
Flowers: sweat peas, freesia, tulips, hyacinth
Reception idea: Scatter pretty pastel Love-heart sweets on your tables, or give them as wedding favours

Bright
Make a statement with bold, vivid colors for a young, modern look.
Flowers: gerbera, anamones, bright clashing roses
Reception idea: use cupcakes in candy colors on a cake-stand for your wedding cake

Blue and Lilac
Soft blues and violets are the cool choice for modern brides, with highlights of aubergine and blackberry.
Flowers: hydrangeas, anemones, lavender
Reception idea: Butterflies and ribbons can adorn your table and flower arrangements

Red
Rich tones of deep reds, purples and plums create contrast and drama.
Flowers: roses, antirrhinum, red calla lilies
Reception idea: Use deep red rose petals scattered as confetti for your guests.
Tip: Try using a combination of different reds - deep plums, rich reds and maybe a splash of fuschia pink - to create a sense of layering and contrast.
