Wording
We have suggested the wording below as a guide - but you can have anything you wish on the wedding stationery. Either include your wording on the order form or email us - this is essential for the Order of Service and for the booklet format where you must email us your guest list to have typeset on the invitations.
Wording for wedding invitations - to Church and reception venue
Mr and Mrs Thomas McCourt are delighted to invite (guest’s name) to the marriage of their daughter Katherine to Mark Old at Plaxtol Parish Church, Tonbridge on Saturday 4th November 2003 at 2.30pm and afterwards at Alexander House Hotel
(If wedding and reception is held at the same venue, simply end with……on Saturday 4th November 2003 at 2.30pm at Alexander House Hotel followed by dinner and evening reception)
Reply address should be added if you are not including a Reply Card, and if required, a dress code.
Alternative wedding invitation wording
The wording may change according to who hosts the wedding:
If the brides’s parents are hosts: Mr and Mrs McCourt…the marriage of their daughter Katherine
If one of the parents is widowed: Mrs McCourt…her daughter Katherine / Mr McCourt…his daughter Katherine
And if they have remarried: Mr and Mrs Harrison…her daughter Katherine / Mr and Mrs McCourt…his daughter Katherine
If the parents are divorced and co-hosting: Mr McCourt and Mrs Harrison…their daughter Katherine
If the bride and groom are hosts: Miss Katherine McCourt and Mr Mark Old…at their marriage
An invitation to a blessing: Mr and Mrs Thomas McCourt are delighted to invite (guest’s name) to the service of blessing, following the marriage of their daughter Katherine to Mark Old …
Ceremony of Commitment
Katherine McCourt and Emma Old are delighted to invite (guest’s name) to their Ceremony of Commitment at Plaxtol Registry Office, Tonbridge on Saturday 4th November 2006 at 2.30pm and afterwards at Alexander House Hotel.
Ceremonies abroad
Following the marriage of Adrian and Áine in St. John Lateran Church, Rome, Mr and Mrs Tony Mullan request the pleasure of the company of (guest’s name) to a reception at Kees Hotel, Stranorlar, County Donegal on Friday 8th July 2005 at 8.00pm.
Following their wedding in Mauritius on 1st March 2006 Miss Sophie Cottrell and Mr Anand Gopaul are delighted to invite to a party in celebration of their marriage at the Bang Bar, The Aquarium Restaurant, Ivory House, St. Katharine-by-the-tower, London, on Saturday 18th March 2006 at 7 o’clock.

(Evening Invitations should have the reply address and remember to add Black tie if there is a dress code)

Your reply address is included, so guests can post directly. If you are worried about timings, you can also add a reply by date.

Please reply using this card by 1st April 2003.
If necessary you can also add other questions such as are you a vegetarian, or do you have any specific dietary requirements?
Order of Service
Entrance music, hymns, prayers, marriage, benediction - you will be able to obtain this from the Church you are getting married in and must always check it with the clergy before ordering. Due to the amount of text in your Order of Service we must receive this in a typed format on CD or email.

These can either be numbers or names of your choice.

Contains your reply address (as a newly wed couple) and space to write your own message
Guest information
We have outlined some suggested text to include on a guest information card.
Accommodation: (list the Hotel’s name, address and telephone number, and perhaps room price so your guests have a wide choice)eg: Sunridge Hotel, Bleke Street, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 8AW T: 01747 853130 (from £30 per person)
Wedding List: (you should receive details of this from the store you have placed your list with ie tel. number, account name, availability) eg: A wedding list is available at Habitat from mid-March. Phone 0870 2400460 to locate your nearest store.(If you feel uncomfortable mentioning gifts, you can always end with: Please do not feel obliged to buy a gift.)
Travel: (you should be able to get concise, easy-to-follow directions from the venue - remember to include road directions, and nearest British Rail Station and we can also provide a map. The Wedding List
Although many modern couples have already set up home together, it is still a good idea to give your guests an idea of your taste and what items you would like. You can place your list with a shop or department store (or split it between a few) as this service is usually free - remember to include a wide variety of gifts that will cover all budgets.
