Colour ideas: Golds

With summer drawing to a close, it’s the start of my favourite season — autumn!
With this comes harvest time and rich yellows, oranges, browns and of course, golds!

Using gold within your wedding palette will create a wonderful warmth to the event and of course, nothing’s as good as gold when it comes to creating a sense of luxury.

To follow the gold theme throughout your invitations, why not choose our Henna design in gold or Print, Crystal, or Cherry for black and gold.

Colour ideas: Hot Pink

Choosing the colour scheme of your wedding is great fun! Once it’s done you can co-ordinate everything, so your whole day flows — from invitations, to flowers, from bridesmaid dresses to table decorations, shoes and more!

Bright colours are a popular choice in the summer months as they complement the steamy weather. Hot pink is just what the doctor ordered, especially for those beach weddings we all dream of!

Q&A: Robin Goldsmith

Tell us a bit about yourself…
I’ve been working for Scissor Paper Stone for just over a year.  My role is to expand the company in the US as well as take orders and work with clients.  It is a challenge as we are new to the US and there is a lot of competition but I am confident it will be a success.

What’s your favorite part of the job?
I like the challenge of getting the word out about the company.  It is always a thrill to see us get press or a blog mention.  I also enjoy working with the clients and helping them with their orders.  It’s always a pleasure to hear from satisfied clients.

What made you want to work with wedding stationery?
The wedding industry is great to work in as you get the opportunity to meet people as they are going through one of the most exciting times of their lives.  Also, I really enjoy working with my family in this business.

What advice would you give to brides ordering their invitations?
Pick a design and style that you like.  Lots of people get lots of input on their invitations but at the end of the day it is your day so go with a choice that makes you happy.

What do you think will be a popular invitation design next year?
Here in the US I am finding that our snapshot range is really popular.  Having a personal photograph on your stationery really gives your invites a nice personal touch.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to grow the US side of the business so that it becomes as well known here as we are in the UK.  It is an exciting prospect and very attainable.

Apart from Scissor Paper Stone, what do you do?

Well I live in New York city so there is always something to do but my favorite thing is going to the greenmarket with my girlfriend and taking it all in.  I also love to travel and walking my dog Olive.  I think she is a prime candidate to become the Scissor Paper Stone mascot:)

Valentines Day Weddings

What is more romantic than getting married around Valentines Day? Deep Red roses, a classic wedding dress and candy hearts as wedding favours. Indulge guests with chocolate covered strawberries, or a chocolate fountain at the reception with pink champagne cocktails. Hire a harpist to serenade you when you walk down the aisle or while guests are enjoyed pre-dinner drinks. And jet off to a romantic location such as Paris for a perfect Valentines Honeymoon.

Butterflies

Butterflies are very on-trend with weddings at the moment and our Butterfly wedding invitation range is always a popular choice with contemporary brides. I found these images while browsing the web and thought they were clever ways to incorporate the butterfly theme in your wedding. Silk butterfly garlands woven into your bouquet, or across reception tables would be perfect accessories, co-ordinating with matching place cards, table numbers and menus.

Garden Party Wedding

While we snuggle up by the fire and put on yet another jumper, the summer seems such a long way away. But its the perfect time to be ordering your invitations for those summer weddings. So over the next couple of weeks I’ll be writing about some fabulous summery themes that can inspire your wedding, including garden parties, beach weddings and country chic. Plus it might make us feel better when its raining and cold outside!
To start, is the informal garden party wedding. Inspired by tea parties, pretty flowers, outdoor living, and an English rose garden, a garden party theme is perfect for late Spring brides.

white wedding bunting
Your wedding dress could be a light lace or organza gown, and have flowers tied in your hair and a hand-tied bouquet of seasonal flowers. Get bridesmaids to throw rose petals and use fruit as an addition to flower decorations for the table. Take inspiration from your surroundings by naming the tables fowers or herbs such as lavender, mint, and sage. You could even use a potted herb as a centrepiece or give seeds as wedding favours.

Hang bunting in the trees, and light strings of lanterns and tea-lights in the evening. Jeep a stack of pashminas on hand for the ladies if the evening cools, and finish the evening by lighting  pretty paper lanterns and sending them off into the night sky.
